They don't know what it is of course, and I have never EVER used the C word in front of them. They just know that mommy had a boo boo on her neck and they used to kiss it and would have to be careful around me. You are such a great mom, that's right- mom, because you are being one to him. I hope you know that. Big hugs and I am so very glad you got good news today!! Love you!Light Skinned Motherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08493772631721757552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994336640653689680.post-46992421330025726572013-06-12T10:00:54.153-04:002013-06-12T10:00:54.153-04:00It sounds like you guys are doing a great job tell...It sounds like you guys are doing a great job telling him just the right amount of information that you think he can take in. The American Cancer Society has some helpful booklets to help explain what cancer is for a kid. You can call them at 800-227-2345. They may have some other ideas or support resources to help whenever you think he is ready.

- MollyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994336640653689680.post-34753309215340467802013-06-12T08:19:25.501-04:002013-06-12T08:19:25.501-04:00I have a 7 year old sensitive worrying boy. I have taken this same approach. we talk about my "gumball" ( because that was what the size of the initial tumor was before surgery) and how I see the Dr so it won't come back. I'm sure there's a better way but I can't steal that peace from him yet.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994336640653689680.post-30628630785825332492013-06-12T02:50:39.951-04:002013-06-12T02:50:39.951-04:00That's the problem. I sat my kids down and asked if they knew what cancer was. Then told them that we have good cells in our bodies that help us do lots of things. I happen to have cancer cells which are bad cells. The doctors and surgeries that i was going to have are going to help me get rid of those bad cells. I would not feel very good at times and that was okay. It was just something that helped destroy the bad cells. One of my kids asked if i was going to die....tuff question. I told her that it wasn't something i was worried about right now. That i was focusing on getting better. We also asked what questions they had.Ranisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12184768980493758324noreply@blogger.com
